Growing in faith

Christian Education at St. James embellishes the framework that the need for Christ in our lives is ever changing and we need to continually grow, learn and enrich our faith. We invite you to come join us as we grow with our Sunday School program, Confirmation Classes, Bible Studies, and Family Programs.
Sunday School
Sunday School is for all ages, Preschool thru Senior High School and Adults of any age.
Why should your child(ren) attend Sunday School? “let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Luke 18:16). Our Sunday School and every aspect of children’s ministry should provide a safe, inviting place for kids so that they can come unhindered to worship and hear Jesus’ word.
At St. James, it is our desire to reach each child with the Gospel and share this discipleship, as God’s word touches and changes lives, making a difference for this life and for eternity.
Proverbs 22:6 is considered the most-quoted verse: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Some may consider this a verse of comfort, some may identify it as a command; but at St. James we look at it as an opportunity.
As parents we made a commitment at the Baptism of our child(ren) that we would assist in caring for the Christian education and training of that child. St. James Lutheran Church is here ready to help you fulfill that promise.
Our main goal-to train our young people and prepare them to defend themselves against what is evil in the world.
Today, children’s lives are different from previous generations – more media options, less clear lines of authority, and less time just to be a kid. We can help provide the training to help children think critically about the morals in our society and the “real world” challenges we all face today.
Sunday School Schedule takes place Sunday mornings from 8:45am-9:45am.
Why should you attend Adult Sunday School?
If you like in-depth small group devotions and discusses on Bible topics our Adult Sunday School class is for you. Come connect with other church members, enjoy some fellowship, while striving to improve and supplement your understanding of what God is saying to you.
Our Adult Bible Study curriculum puts the Bible in layman’s terms- so you can get the most out of the Scripture to become a life-long learner.
Adult Sunday School takes place Sunday mornings at 8:45 am in our Office Conference Room.

Bible Study
In the Bible we are told that if we have the faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move a mountain (Matthew 17:20). Mustard seeds are tiny but when nurtured – just like our faith – they can grow into something hardy. Something strong. Something that can flourish in all kinds of places. Bible Studies can equip and encourage you to:
Grow your faith, Refresh you spirit, Connect you with other members of at St. James
Our Adult Bible Studies are held in the Fall and Spring each year. The 6 to 10 week sessions meet on a week night or Sunday evening. Check out our Upcoming Events Calendar to learn more.

Family Programs
Family Programs are design to provide extra or in-depth opportunities for all members of St. James to grow their faith. Whether through a Bible Camp for our younger members, a bake sale /sub sandwich sale to support our confirmation retreat or youth mission trip, or an all-church outreach project to support an important cause, these special activities make our church what it is today.
St. James is living under the Cross–loving, growing, serving and giving praise for the wonderful God’s gives to us.
